Inspired by the infinite sonic possibilities of the guitar, Stelios' activities range from contemporary music to classical guitar to collaborating with a wide range of groups. Equally committed to the nylon as well as the electric guitar he combines elements of both worlds in his sound. He has played everywhere from dive bars & sticky basements to concert halls and stadiums.
Based in NYC he is currently working a.o. with Chamber Music (an acoustic duo with bassist Zach Swanson), Leo Genovese's cross genre large ensemble 'the Legal Aliens', the improvising music collective 'Listening Group', in a duo guitar setting with composer Marcelo Toledo and his own projects, the 'Unanimity' 5tet feat. Daniel Carter, as well as his electric guitar trio.
Stelios is also an active music educator. After being a faculty member of the South Shore Conservatory in Boston he has joined the team at Ezra Guitar. Since 2014 he is running his own distinguished music studio at Prospect Park, Brooklyn.
After completing studies on Musicology and Classical Guitar in his native Athens, Greece, he moved to Boston to study Contemporary Guitar at Berklee College of Music with jazz greats such as Mick Goodrick, Ed Tomassi, Hal Crook & Dave Santoro.
